12 days till Texas!!!

Check out this video… it’s a Korean prank/comedy show and this time they make 2 guys try to eat jjajangmyun (black Chinese noodles) while riding a huge rollercoaster with the steepest vertical drop in the world. I haven’t laughed this hard in a LONG time!

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve [...]

Update: T-minus 32 days….

…a continuation of my post from a few days ago.
Here is the heart that class 5-1 made me! I picked out a couple of the notes that cracked me up:

T-minus 32 days…

Today, I wrapped up my 5th and 6th grade classes for the semester. I had to tell all my students that I’m leaving for good, which was met with mixed reactions:

the ‘aawwwww’ reaction,
the confused ‘I don’t understand English’ face,
one or two cheers (followed by smacks or shushing),
and of course the ‘ARE YOU GONNA GET MARRIED?!?’ [...]

A quick post by a busy girl.

So, my blog has been sadly neglected lately but I have a good reason: my co-teacher (church girl) and I have to plan and teach an ‘open class’ this week. This means that we basically have to organize the perfect English lesson, complete with flashcards, powerpoints, songs, and games, to ‘perform’ in front of the [...]

Aigoo.

After protesting several times that I’m on a diet because Korea has made me gain at least 5 kilos (you do the math!!!), I was still force-fed 2 slices of pizza in addition to my normal school lunch today. Yaaayyyy. The last time I wore jeans, I literally packed an extra skirt in my bag [...]

I’d rather gouge out my own eyes than listen to your Jesus babble.

My Korean co-teacher gave me a small booklet called “Bridge to Life” today… all about how I’m going to burn in hell if I don’t accept god in my life. Well, I don’t care if I have to ‘burn in hell’ as long as I don’t go to the same afterworld as those crazy freaks (Bible thumpers). This [...]

생일 축하합니다!

It’s been a while since something out of the ordinary happened on my birthday, but it’s been even longer since I was actually excited about getting older. But today, as I said goodbye to my college-grad age, my 5th graders showed me a birthday to remember. I walked into my 3rd class totally unsuspecting, but [...]

Uh, nice to meet you too.

It’s the first day of a new school year and the new teacher that now occupies the desk beside me is a toal nut. The first 3 sentences out of her mouth this morning were:

I’m Mrs. Chuae, what’s your name?
Do you love Jesus?
I have cancer.

Whoa lady. Don’t you think you’re layin it on a little [...]

Cabin fever!!!

Last week I told my co-workers that I had cabin fever and they got really worried. I realized very quickly that they haven’t learned this saying yet. I had to explain that it wasn’t an actual sickness, but a feeling people get when they’re sitting indoors for entirely too long! That’s exactly how I feel [...]

Rain with a chance of hypothermia in the near future.

So I was reading the weather forecast today and apparently some siberian blasts are headed our way… the high is 20 degrees tomorrow (like negative something in celsius… I don’t do celsius yet). The low is TEN DEGREES…. TEN. Well then. I have my weekend plans already… stay at home with 50 layers of clothes [...]
